The son of a photographer, Chris began working with cameras and darkroom equipment while still in grade school. He learned early on that the most compelling images can be found hiding in common settings.

Thanks to his professional background in sports, newspaper, landscape and event photography, coupled with his years in print journalism, Chris has come to view the camera as a means of recording and retelling personal stories.

In 2002, Chris was invited into the Freed Photography family. He was delighted to join his long-time friends Neal and Carla in the pursuit of a shared passion – capturing joy, excitement and genuine emotion through the lens. His technical evolution as a photographer has been greatly enhanced by his close association with Neal and Bryan. Chris brings to each assignment an unobtrusive style and an eye for the unfolding story.

Chris and his wife Mary Beth have been married for nearly 30 years and are blessed with four children, ages 26, 24, 21, and 15. Chris is an avid cook, golfer, and cyclist and fills whatever free time is left with coaching youth soccer and hockey.
